Maintenance Technician

Nationwide Housing Corporation is currently hiring a Maintenance Technicians to join our team at our Oakdale property. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living community for all residents, including residential units, building common areas, and community grounds.


Job Responsibilities include:

  • Building maintenance - repairs, mechanical systems, inspections, cleaning
  • Grounds maintenance - daily inspection and cleaning, lawn maintenance, snow removal of walkways and steps
  • Unit turnovers - repairs, painting, general cleaning
  • Manage miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed by management

Job Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or more years of experience in the maintenance of Mechanical Equipment and/or maintenance-related field required
  • Two or more years of experience with Maintenance Engineer responsibility required, preferably in a residential setting
  • State of MN 2nd Class "C" Boilers license preferred
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, large appliance repair, carpentry, sheetrock repair, hanging doors, power tools and hand tools, and HVAC troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Hazardous Material Regulations (HAZMAT) and the State Health Department
  • Able to understand and follow Company safety and emergency procedures
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Able to provide customer service in a friendly, courteous, flexible and responsible fashion to a diverse group of residents
  • Able to work under pressure and applies effective time management skills in order to meet all deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and numerous projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiar with computers and software, and able to learn property management software (Yardi)
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle to travel to other properties and Twin Cities as needed
  • Physical ability to move around buildings and grounds in all weather conditions; Bend, stretch, stoop, stand, sit, balance, climb stairs and ladders; Lift, carry, push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds and maximum of 100 pounds with assistance
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, nights and weekends as required including attending meetings as needed
