Act of Kindness #1
Nationwide Housing Corporation donated $180 to the Boy Scouts of America - Northern Star Council Friends of Scouting. Northern Star Council serves over 72,000 young people in 25 counties. More than 1 in 5 eligible youth participate in Northern Star Council Scouting programs. The yearly cost to provide programming and services for one scot is $180.
Act of Kindness #2
Nationwide Housing Corporation donated four Minnesota Twins tickets to the 2012 True Blue Gala silent auction for the Dakota County Technical College Foundation in its mission of providing "collegiate-level education for employment that will empower individuals to enhance their opportunities for career advancement and success in a global economy".

At the Nationwide Housing Corporation property - Heights Manor located in Columbia Heights, MN, the Property Manager - Barbara DePalma, Regional Property Manager - Jaime Pearson, and 12 residents are volunteering to clean the part adjacent to the Heights Manor property on an every other week basis. Nationwide Housing Corporation will have a sign at the park in our honor.

At the Nationwide Housing Corporation property - Millie Beneke Manor located in Glencoe, MN, the residents donated sixty-one bags of food to the local food shelf.

Nationwide Housing Corporation Regional Property Manager, Tracy Hanson, participated in Families Moving Forward at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina. She volunteered to be an evening host and played, read etc. with homeless children.

In honor and appreciation of those who have proudly served our country, Nationwide Housing Corporation donated Minnesota Twins tickets that enabled four Veterans, who are members of the Otto Chase Post 235 American Legion, the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon baseball game at Target Field.

Nationwide Housing Corporation Regional Property Manager, Tracy Hanson, participated in the Mount Olivet Homes' Auxiliary 28th Annual Super Garage Sale located at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Tracy and her family donated a truck full of household items and assisted with the set-up of the garage sale.

The Huntington Hills Team donated blood for the American Red Cross on May 17, 2012. The blood drive was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mankato and was very successful. They surpassed their goal with over 45 units donated.

Huntington Hills Assistant Property Manager, Jen Powers, donated her hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. This campaign is for the American Cancer Society and with Jen's donation; a cancer patient in the country will receive a real-hair wig at no cost to them.

Maple Ridge Manor Property Manager, Kelly Brown, is the Family Readiness Group (FRG) Leader for the Alexandria unit of the National Guard. Kelly helps families with any questions, concerns or guidance they may need while their family member is deployed. Kelly also hosts monthly meetings and events for the families.

Chris Mish, Maintenance Technician at Huntington Hills, and his family helped rake leaves for people in need through his local church.

Huntington Hills Assistant Property Manager, Jen Powers, baked and donated 10 dozen cookies for her local church fall festival bake sale.

In the months of June, July and August, the Maple Ridge Manor Property Management Staff teamed up with School District #206 to have the Traveling Tree House Bus visit the property every Monday. This program provided lunches for all children under the age of 18, and then the children had the opportunity to play games, read books and spend time in the Tree House Bus. The children also received a book each week to take home with them.

The Huntington Hills team has volunteered to be bell ringers for the local Salvation Army Christmas Red Kettle Campaign. They are ringing a total of 4 hours to help Mankato reach their needed goal of 6000 total hours of bell ringers. The Christmas Red Kettle Campaign efforts raise funds to support programs in the Mankato community year round.

The team at Huntington Hills collected food for the ECHO Food Shelf in Mankato. The ECHO Food Shelf provides emergency food assistance to Blue Earth County and North Mankato residents since 1981.

Nationwide Housing Corporation donated 4 Minnesota Twins tickets for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life silent auction.

Nationwide Housing Corporation Vice President of Property Management, Debra Godtland, participated as a Team Captain in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life signature event raising money towards the fight against cancer.

The team at Huntington Hills donated furniture and other household items to an immigrant family that arrived in the United States in 2012, making their home in the Mankato area.

Arlington Ridge Apartments Property Manager, Amy Rukavina, along with her daughter, Mary, built and donated a "Little Free Library" to the property for the residents to enjoy.

Hickory Ridge Townhomes Senior Property Manager, Jennie Kunz, along with Nationwide Housing Corporation sponsored box lunches for the annual "Housing For All" bus tour. The bus tour showcased quality affordable housing in Maple Grove and Plymouth.

Nationwide Housing Corporation sponsored a Second Harvest Heartland food drive. Corporate employees brought in nonperishable food items that were donated to the food bank.

Nationwide Housing Corporation Property Management Administrator, Denise Norman, and her family participate in the "Adopt A Park Program" in Maple Grove. Twice during 2012, they enhanced the appearance of the park with clean up.

Residents and Property Management staff of Eastgate Townhomes in Montevideo collected aluminum cans for Boy Scout Troop #259.

Nationwide Housing Corporation employees Debra Godtland, Vice President of Property Management, and Tracy Hanson, Regional Property Manager, participated in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Ring a Bell volunteer program. Debra and Tracy rang the bell at the Cub Foods location in Crystal.

Arlington Ridge Apartments Property Manager, Amy Rukavina, and her family assisted the Feed My Starving Children program pack meals that are shipped to nearly 70 countries around the world helping children in need.

Amy Rukavina, Property Manager of Arlington Ridge Apartments, and her family adopted a family for Christmas 2012. They purchased a Christmas present for each child in the family along with a gift card for groceries.

Residents and Property Management staff at Heights Manor in Columbia Heights participated in the 2012 toy drive for southern Anoka County. The toys will be handed out at the SACA Christmas Toy Distribution Dinner on December 19th.

John Miller, Maintenance Technician at Heights Manor in Columbia Heights, organized a Senior Music Jam, which is held at the Lakeville Heritage Center. This event is hosted one Thursday each month during 2012. John volunteers his time, talent and musical instruments. Seniors can sing along with him or play their musical instruments and are also invited to dance.

Residents and Property Management staff at Riverview Apartments in Appleton worked with area churches to help two families that were not able to obtain a Christmas tree for their family. The residents and site staff purchased a 6 1/2 foot pre-lit Christmas tree, a set of ornaments, ornament hooks, holiday window clings, along with a bag of M&M treats that were donated to the families to brighten their holiday season.

Heights Manor Property Manager, Barbara DePalma, donated a Christmas Dinner Basket to the Southern Anoka Community Assistance program. The baskets are then delivered to Columbia Heights, Fridley, Spring Lake Park and Hilltop residents that are in need.

Nationwide Housing Corporation donated items to the Arc Value Village Thrift Store in New Hope that utilizes proceeds to assist with programs and services that are supported through Arc Greater Twin Cities that help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
